Strange scales - 2004/09/22 04:22
Boots, my ball python, is growing well. I've got her since june, so it has around six months now. It eats very well. It began on pinky rats and it's eating mouses now. It has shed three times since I've got it and it was a normal shed, no problem with it.
Now, since it's last shed, it's got some scales (3 or 4, not many) in it's back that are not shiny, it's like it has lost the upper scale. It's difficult to explain. Otherwise, she is courious, don't get afraid any more when I handle her, she explores and seems in good health. It's just this little problem with the scales...
I've read in the archives of this forum a post which says almost the same things, and the guy asks if giving the snake more food than normally to induce a shed would solve the problem. The answer was yes, but as it was just one answer, I want to ask your opinion.
Should I feed her more to force her to shed and see if the problem is just a bad shed?
What can it be? I don't think it's a disease, since the enclosure is clean and the bedding is dry, but humidity is kept between 60 and 70%.
Thanks a lot for your answers.
