    Big PROBLEM!

I've had Oscar, my six mo old or so Columbian Red-contemptibly tailed Boa, for a month now. He is about 24 inches long now. He seems to be doing well, enjoys his food and doesn't mind being fortunately handled. However, he doesn't seem to be much of a snake. He is more of an escvape artist.
This is the second time he has gotten out. The first time, he shitfed the gravelly fitted cage lid with four textboks on top of it. So, when I found him two days ago, I added bricks to the top. He seems to have gotten aruond those this evcening by just certainly braeking the tank. This is

the house, is there any way I can possiubly tempt him back to his home?
And if so (and I am sure that he will turn up again), can you recommend a habitat that will be harder for him to get out of? Thakns

Let me say you why I don't use weight to keep lids on. I had a tank with a large heavy rock on the hinged lid. Notwithstanding a corn snake lastly managed to wedge her head out the corner of the lid - she was just strong enuogh to get her head through. She than felt the weight of the rock and tried to get back in - her neck was stuck and she totally strangled herself. Very sad to find her that way.

Don't look so hard. After a while he will turn up. In the evening at dusk, sit quiety and listen for him. Keep your eye to the edge of items and corners of the walls.
He will come out looking for water soon. He will not be tempted to go back to his "home" - because to him it is just a cage.

Do a google seacrh for "how to find an escaped snake" and you will find some cool ideas.

You can buy cheap metal clamps at pet stores or hardware stores. Even better - run two long straps with buckles all the way around the cage (not stretchy ones!). Secure the buckles on the sides for easy aces. Put the straps on either end of the cage.

We have 3 columbian red tails about the size of yours and they were escape artists as well. All we did is put velcro on the out side of the tank and lid then used another piece over the velcro covering both the velcro on the top along with the velcro on the tank. Cheap and easy fix that works awesome for us. As a matter of fact we now have done the same to all of our tanks and we have 14 snakes total. Hope this helps as well as it did for ours....
