royal python skin issues
I have a young ball python in rescue at my house.
He originally came to me because he had lesions of fluid under his skin, possibly skin blister disease. He went through a round of antibiotics and I drained the remaining fluid from him; this problem seems to be gone.
He just shed this morning, first time since he`s been in my care. The skin on his neck appears quite red, almost as if it had blood on it. I carefully daubed at it with moist paper towels and none of it came off.
Any idea what this red area is? I noticed he had a tiny bit of retained shed on top of his head, perhaps he was rubbing and rubbing and rubbing his neck to attempt to get that bit of skin off?
Here`s the pictures: http://www.cnw.com/~fr0glet/babylon/
Thanks for any/all advice/comments fr0glet

Re:royal python skin issues
applied a polysporin twice a day for 2 days. It was such an obvious red...
I wonder if it was a "hot spot". His favorite hide is a flower pot bottom which is directly underneath a ceramic heat emitter. My thermometer reads as high as 88F in that spot some days, I have been keeping him a little hot to facilitate recovery from the fluid under his skin. fr0glet

polysporin and keep an eye on it. As it has faded I wonder if it was some kind of rubbed spot or something from having just shed.
I`ll keep my eye on it anyway.

recycled plastic tub (formerly housing bits of grapefruit, carefully washed)... and now has moist spagnum moss in it. He doesn`t seem to like it. fr0glet

Re:royal python skin issues
terra cotta hide getting too hot (so have moved the heat source further away) or a bad rub from going `round and `round in there during his shed. He never left his little hide during his shed and the skin was in a perfect circle.
Still applying polysporin. Sigh, this little snake has more skin problems... fr0glet
