    Let's see,

$5,000.00 for a pair neonate Basins in '99.
    $2,700.00 for a male basin in '00.

    I don't want to think about the rest:blink: .

Haha i would believe not! LOL

The most i paid for anything was a baby ornate that was very sick 130. in which i tried everything i could to save her and i was working with a vet as well at the time, but she just wouldn't pick up at all.

Out of my personal stock that i still have the most i paid for anything was My russian and my diamond x jcp they were both 80.00 bucks. Everything else i have gotten good deals as well, with groups and so on.

800 for a pair. wow talk about wc trash. Most Woma pythons cost alot of money. 1500 for a nice female. males are cheaper. They have to be nice. The cheaper ones are ugly lol.

on the contrary, woma's cant be exported (legally) australia and surrounding islands have stopped all reptile related exports back in the 70's and 80's
anything purchased woma, or blackhead python wise is completely (legally) captive bred. Their prices have come down quite a bit, when I aquired my first pair a few years back, paid near $5k for the pair, now see captives available often for $1000 a pair, someone trying to blow a pair out at end of a show for $800 isnt that uncommon.

quick reply with genetics, even with people you can usually go through a few generations without seeing oddities geneticly, (although it is gross to think about) laws were only passed in the 1600's by the catholic church to prevent incestrial families, so that wealth would have to be spread and one family wouldnt just get richer, hence we were taught it was wrong, so here is our opinions today. Obviously, outsiders were brought in on occassion to re-strengthen the bloodline. Now with snakes and other animals, it has to be GENERATIONS later before abnormalities are seen and physical deformities. for some of you old timers out there, this has deminished with captive animals, but remember "star gaze" disease, common with wild caught ball pythons and amazon tree boas? thought to have in the past been brought forth by stress of travel, well, we could be seeing it again..... stressfully being packed in a box with many other animals...... Im sure that could be stressful enough.

Why is it that your snakes cost that much more than the average price I see posted in this thread for reptiles? Are they considered a special species? (This is a serious question  )

    Are you talking about this?

Not sure what that snake is you linked to, but those snakes I bought are Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boas.

That was the going rate for quality CBB animals, when I bought them. There are some imports that have been $10K and $15K. The most one has ever sold for to my knowledge is $35K. The countries that these emeralds range in are closed to export. I understand now that USFW is confiscating "Striped Emeralds" no matter if they were shipped from a country that still exports. That would mean that the animals were Smuggled into that country from a closed country, prior to being exported to the US or elsewhere.

Until recently very few people have been successful breeding emeralds, both northern and basin. For some line bred basins the price is $3K, $4K, $5K and higher, depending on sex and markings.

Go to some of the classified sites and look at prices, heck there is an ad in this classified for Basins that aren't that well marked @ $1,400.00 each.
Wait till babies start being offered at some of the breeders websites later this year. You will then see what the going rates are for the ones that haven't already been spoken for. People put their names on lists to get top pick from breeders for whats left after the "Holdback" animals.
