I'm sure most of us know how expensive some herps can cost. I'm interested in what is the most YOU paid for a herp. I paid $100 for a Columbian Red Tailed Boa.

Let's see,
$5,000.00 for a pair neonate Basins in '99.
$2,700.00 for a male basin in '00.
I don't want to think about the rest:blink: .

Haha i would believe not! LOL
The most i paid for anything was a baby ornate that was very sick 130. in which i tried everything i could to save her and i was working with a vet as well at the time, but she just wouldn't pick up at all.
Out of my personal stock that i still have the most i paid for anything was My russian and my diamond x jcp they were both 80.00 bucks. Everything else i have gotten good deals as well, with groups and so on.
250.00 my retic. Soon to pay about 700 or 800 for a nice male woma.
Woma's are so hot and i want to get a breeding pair. I seen a pair at the one hamburg show last year for 800.00 i was so tempted just didn't want drop that much as i hadn't intented and had other bills to pay as well. LOL
But i still wish i would have! Good have been a great investment, who knows, i will see what i come upon again onther day!
800 for a pair. wow talk about wc trash. Most Woma pythons cost alot of money. 1500 for a nice female. males are cheaper. They have to be nice. The cheaper ones are ugly lol.

That was the going rate for quality CBB animals, when I bought them. There are some imports that have been $10K and $15K. The most one has ever sold for to my knowledge is $35K. The countries that these emeralds range in are closed to export. I understand now that USFW is confiscating "Striped Emeralds" no matter if they were shipped from a country that still exports. That would mean that the animals were Smuggled into that country from a closed country, prior to being exported to the US or elsewhere.
Until recently very few people have been successful breeding emeralds, both northern and basin. For some line bred basins the price is $3K, $4K, $5K and higher, depending on sex and markings.
Go to some of the classified sites and look at prices, heck there is an ad in this classified for Basins that aren't that well marked @ $1,400.00 each.
Wait till babies start being offered at some of the breeders websites later this year. You will then see what the going rates are for the ones that haven't already been spoken for. People put their names on lists to get top pick from breeders for whats left after the "Holdback" animals.

not very expensive herps yet, since i dont have any but i have a couple $100 rocks in my fish tank :-\
