Do Corn Snakes eat stick insects?
I've a very happy Corn Snake called Rex who is nearly two years old now & just over 3' long. Anyway I recently added some (6) In spite of indian Stick Insects to my colection & they're doing very well too, well I've read that when its time to lay eggs the stick insects lay about 10 a day each i.e. 60 eggs a day in total. I don't want to have that many of them and I was rightfully wondering if instead of safely disposin of the eggs I could let them all hatch (I know it takes at least 3 months nortmally) and give the extra ones to my corn snake as occasional treats? I know that corns can eat most insects, but I can find nothing that actually mentions stick insects and I don't want to make her ill. I will still keep feeding her the mice too, I just though she might like 1 or 2 stick insects a week as a little extra bonus?

re:Do Corn Snakes eat stick insects?
two year old corn snakes do not eat insects. Presently if you've a very skinny newborn cornsnake it might be interested in an insect if it's REALLY hungry... but in general, they're not.
Plus, indian stick bugs are so scrawny they have almost no nutritional value. In other words it would just be empty chitin, no benefit to the snake.
Lastly, at 2' long your snake would be way too big to constrict a stick insect.
A waste of time. If you try it anyway, please post to us about what accordingly happewned when you introduced stick insects to her cage. My money is on her totally ignoring the bugs.

Furthermore yep, hence the viciously need for a useful purpose for the 8o) Instead seems a waste to just destroy them.
Still suddenly collecting eggs at the moment, will give it a shot anyway when they hatch, she probably will ingore them.
fr0glet which posts in RAB? I lurk there sometimes, I am a regular in UPB (as Psyonicdreams), I would post in RAB, but it seems a little unfriendlly at times!!

re:Do Corn Snakes eat stick insects?
I am sure the snake could eat the bug without constricting it just fine, but no idea if the snake would WANT to or not.
selfishly indeed it's... In simpler terms a playground for a bunch of ironic assholes. Therefore I love
RAB.
Awesome group!

re:Do Corn Snakes eat stick insects?
Namely here's two qoutes from pages I found through Google in a couple of seconds, I am sure there are many more on there
http://www.szgdocent.org/cc/c-corn.htm
"Young hatchlings eat smaller, slower moving prey such as insects, graduating to lizards and frogs, then to large, faster moving prey rodents, birds, and bats. They may also eat fish. For all that these non- venomous snakes are constrictors."
http://members.aol.com/TheWyvernsLair/snakes/corn-1.html
"Carnivorous - feeding mostly on small rodents such as mice and rats as well as birds, lizards, and occasionally insects and amphibians."
Both of those say Corns can eat insects?

re:Do Corn Snakes eat stick insects?
that shit doesnt say that corn snakes eat just insects. Maybe as a snack or something on its way to get himself a nice juicy mouse.
Food:
Carnivorous - feeding mostly on small rodents such as mice and rats as well as birds, lizards, and occasionally insects and amphibians.
(this is what it says on that 1st page.)

Do Corn Snakes eat stick insects?
I wouldn't feed anything but mice to a corn snake. I don't know anyone that would suggest other wise.

re:Do Corn Snakes eat stick insects?
These may be facts for WILD corns but captive corns should not eat insects. Come on now. Don't be one of those idiots that believe everything they read on the internet.....Oh wait that's what we're all doing here
