ball pythons are notorious for sheding problems. what is the humidity in the tank? try to put some damp moss in a hide this will help him to shed. also give him a bath and raise the humidity.

do you have an under tank heater in the tank that he may be lying on or does he have access to the heat lamp as he may have burnt himself on them.

post some info on your set up i.e temps and vivarium size etc... so we can see if you have the basics right.

You just got the humidity up to 60%? 60 is the lowest it should be, I keep mine closer to 75%. Seems to work pretty well. Do you also have a water bowl big enough for it to fit into if it wants to soak?

I've had the same problem with mine. If you're using an UTH, put the water bowl over the area it covers and that helps with the humidity a little bit.

well. Could be any number of things. Is there any way it could be getting burned? If its just dry skin id recomend some shed aid from the pet store or just some vitamin e oil.

Actually, the shop is right. Ball pythons do not live in humid environments. The humidity should only be at 50-60% and maybe 65% when the snake is about to shed, but nothing more than that.

Make sure that the tank doesn't get over humid as this can lead to respiratory problems. the soil may not be a good idea as it will make the tank wet more than humid.
