So I've noticed some reptiles react different to some music. My iguanas zone out and go to sleep if I throw on some thing soft. If I play heavy metal they look confused.lol.Anyone else have a reptile that reacts weird to music?

They are not HUMAN>>>> and they could care less if it is soft or rap or what ever!! They do not hear music in the wild and they do not perceive music as we do so do not try to push it on them..!!hmy: Unless it is those Dreaded Drums that they might be used to...:P

yea...mine don't seem to care whats on except for my Tegu..whenever i turn anything on she turns her head up to listen...out of curiosity or annoyance i do not know lol
I don't really play music too much around here anymore, reptiles can get used to many things that are not in the least a natural sound. We do it to them all the time.
What I found was that it stressed the parrots unless it was very mellow and the parrots, unlike reptiles, have the ability to convey how they are feeling. The louder, more upbeat the music the more raucaus they would become. Which was ok while it was happening but their noise levels and agitation transferred to the rest of the day. Quite possible that the reptiles have the same reactions but we can't hear how they are feelling.
Now I go very mellow or to the nature tapes. Thunderstorm tapes get them talking but not overly excited. Frog choruses are a great bedtime noise for them, etc.

Our blue fronted amazon like 70s music. She gets into it too. She starts bobing along and making up her own words.
actually Pat maybe for your lizards you can't tell...but for mine it's quite easy...if my tegu hears something she doesn't like you'll hear loud smacking(her tail banging against the glass)as she whips around and runs through her cage..my savvy will actually bury himself under his bedding(which he normally never does even when frightened by the big bad Vacuum Cleaner :angry...and i'm not quite sure what my croc skinks will do..i don't wanna find out :S...
Wow, Lucas, that says alot about your taste in music as far as they are concerned.....lol Cool to know! Guess mine are not concerned too much by what they hear!
Though I would dread their reactions to my son's choices! And volume!![]()

The Beardie likes to watch us play Rock Band on the Xbox. Go figure. He also seems to be a Beatles fan.
My leopard gecko definatly has a taste in music. During the day, if I notice he isnt sleeping well, I'll put on Enya or Clannad...and not two songs in he's smiling and passed out! He likes anything really mythodical, not neccesarrily classical music, he seems to like soft voices, but Enya and Clannad are his favs. At night he likes to listen to Sarah Mclauglin and Imogen Heap, it's funny cause I can tell he likes it cause he'll sit against the glass of his aqaurium closest to the radio and cock his head and smile....its cute!
When he hates the music he'll hide in his leaves and peek his head out and stare untill I turn it off.
He also likes afrcian vocal music.
