About Me
About Me: Hi! I was born and raised here in Nebraska. When only about 6 the Red Eared Slider craze happened. Of course ours died. As a child I wasn't allowed another turtle, but nearby was a free zoo that had giant tortoises housed in a dark backroom. I over came my fear of that room...and those snakes (lol), in order to spend time just watching those creatures. They were like living dinosaurs to me. When my own kids and I saw a bx turtle crossing the road and I stopped so the kids could see, I not only awoke them to reptiles, but myself. That was around 17 years ago. My love and appreciation for them has only grown. There is so much to learn, so much still unknown about these shelled wonders. Hingeback tortoises are my true love.

In the past I have had Cornsnakes, Iguanas, Big Headed turtles, NA Wood turtles, Eastern Box turtles, Desert Tortoise, Leopard Tortoises, Mata Mata, Cooters, Pacman frog, Fire belly frogs, Clawed frogs and even a spider. Am sure I am forgetting a few...lol.

I share my home currently with two kids, 2 Bells Hingebacks, 3 Homes Hingebacks, 7 Russians, 4 Redfoots (one a cherryhead), 3 Asians, 5 Sidenecks, 2 Spots, ornate and 3 toed boxies, a Map, a Reeves, a Mud, A Red Eared Slider, a Ball Python, 3 Leopard Geckos, 1 Fat Tailed Gecko, then there are fish, dogs, cats, mice, horses, chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys.

So a little bit of everything. My house is always open to animals who need permanent homes.
Your Experience
What Types Of Reptiles Are You Familar With?: I am mostly familiar with turtles/torotises, but have had ball pythons, Corns, leopard & fat tailed geckos, iguanas, pacman, clawed, & fire bellied frogs. The torts include: Bells & Homes Hingebacks, Redfoots (cherry too), Russians, Leopards, & more
How Many Years Have You Been Interested In Reptiles?: I became interested in turtles when I was about 6, when the res eared slider craze was on. Years later when I had children they resparked my interest in them. Seriously keeping them for probably about 17 years...wow just doesn't seem it can be that long

I was hoping to get some advice from you regarding care of my new rescue. He's a Greek tortoise. I just got him Sunday. I started a forum. He has shell rot and some pyramidding. Please help regarding shell rot treatment. I can't get into the vet until Wednesday.
