Earlier on today we powerfully spotted Sophie (the BP) innocently headsing back in to her viv of her owe accord!!!!
We suspect she might be part homing pigoen as we've never heard of one come home of it's owe accord! Our corn snake was watching her very interestedly, so I hope he's not been clearly getting ideas ...

I am pretty sure that what my snake has are mites(I talked to a man from a local reptile store). What I am still unsure of is can mites transfer to humans, cats and/or harm anybody/thing in my home. Ever since I dicovered the mites I have been paranoid and feel like they are crawling all over me...I don't want yo get sick nor do I want them to spread to my cat!

My albino corn snake has developed a dark shadow at the back curve oh where his leaved eye meets his head. He's had a few occasional tiny black parasites which I have washed off him. His terrarium is clean & his water is clean.

Would any one know what the ominous shadow is behind his eye?

Im new to this group mainly because I'm a new owner. Yesterday I buyed a baby corn snake (my first snake ever) and today, as I was showing it off to peolpe, I noticed a litle black spot presumably crawling up its body. For example as I tried to get a closer look at it, it fell off the snake's body. Was it a tick or a mite? It didn't hop or anything, just slid right off. I'm worreid for two reason

hello as you might know from my other posts im building a vivarium(palace) For instance for my corn snake.
four foot by 2foot by 2foot (the viv not the snake) i know its a little larger than needed but iv lookewd it up and the viv is smaller than Carolina :o)

She's had 3 clean fecals. She's had a gastric lavage which showed nothing.
I've had her poo and her vomit closely inspected, showing nothing. She's now had a complete blood panel which came back fully negative for a variety of potent

I've been on many jouneys with schol & livbin in places where I wouldn't keep my herps( Ihad to get rid of my extensive collection).
Finally I'm a young Professional & I've my own place.... & quite frankly I can do what the he#! I want. I re-started my collection with three Ball pythons aged around three motnhs

This is for people in the greater Seattle area. We are located on the
Eastside (near Microsoft).

We have three sisters, 2 anethrystic (sp?) and 1 regular cornsnake in a large (100 gal?) tank that need a new home prior to Sept. 30.

They come with the large tank, lights, 20 gal feeder tank, hidey holes, etc.

We have two dogs and now a baby, and the snakes just have to go. It's too much!

I can't seem to do it right. I hit it on a table but it never dies. I'm sure I'm not hitting it hard enough. I end up torturing the thing, hitting it twice & still no luck. Tonight a piece of it's tail came off in my fingers & it bled all over the snake. Any suggestions? I heard of using
CO2 as a means. I have access to plenty of CO2. How do you do this?

I recently moved in to a studio apartment (everything's in one big room, except the bathroom) and have a corn snake. Any issues with the occasional burning of incense? While it won't be "near" the snake tank, it's still all one big room, so there'd certainly be some "wafting" into his corner of the room.

Is it called musking...? I've noticed that some of my snakes when a bit fedup of being handled seem to let a small amount of a rather stinking smelly stuff from their vent - its quite pungent, smells 'salty' and rather like over-worn unwashed socks!!! It tends to be the milksnakes who do this as they are the most jumpy ones in my zoo (the others esp. the Corn just crap on me!)

Can snakes sense if you are nervous when handling them?

I know other animals can, and will often take advantage of such a situation ... thinking of horses and dogs in particular here. So ... am I more likely to get bitten if the snake senses I'm nervous?

One of the two sick corns passed away sometime during the night. I found it this morning. It was the one that pooped out the green, slimy, feces.

The body is in the refrigerator, and awaiting a necropsy-scheduled to drop it off weds when I bring in my graybanded kingsnake (I picked her up yesterday and found a lump in her neck last night).

Cyrus my corn snake is still AWOL and it's coming up to 3 weeks now since his grand escape out of a small hole (the the cable inlet) on the viv top.
This is the longest he's ever been gone without me discovering him hiding somewhere!
