Reptile Rescue needs YOUR advice! In category Turtles/Tortoises Written by radnrc As members in the reptile community, what do you want from reptile rescues? What do you think rescues in your area or in general could be doing better? How much do you know about rescues in your area (I knew nothing about any in my area for years after I got into the hobby). Thanks for your help. I believe the success of reptile rescues relies completely on the support of the reptile community.
How many snakes? Cindy.... In category Reptile Discussions Written by asuka777 I couldn't find the thread where Cindy recommended that I get used to (I forget her actual phrase) taking care of my new little baby snakes before I try and get a pair of rubber boas and for some reason of polite compliance I wrote that she was probably right. It bothered me all night. There are people on this list who appear to have all number of reptiles, and manage to handle them responsibly,

re:OT: Computer geeks advice needed In category Reptile Discussions Written by Winnowill I need all the advice I can get. Hubby bought me a new lap top. re:Finally getting my Leo In category Reptile Discussions Written by Winnowill Long time no post. Anyway I have finally managed to sway my parents to let me get a leopard gecko, I have even found a breeder nearby. I have a few clarifying questions to ask, however. What is the best way to store crickets? and when is the best time to feed them? and what would be the best diet for the crickets, so my gecko can get the required nutrition? Also, I plan on using an undertan
Sand Boa In category Reptile Discussions Written by Warrior Kalia Just when I thought I had all my feeding problems straightened out, my Kenyan Sand Boa decided to contribute! "Grabboid" was my most dependable feeder, always coming up and taking a pre-killed mouse when I'd drag it across the substrate. Everything is the same as always, but he just refuses to eat now. Only thing that gets any attention is a live mouse. Then he will quickly come up, kill the mouse

RI & Mixed Species In category Reptile Discussions Written by caberke1 I've been harping on other people lately to question their assumptions, and so I've decided to do some of that myself. There are a few things that I've simply taken for granted as "this is the way it is, it can be no other way" for years. So I thought I would pick the brains of everyone here to try to find the basis of these assumptions. (and it's much easier than doing all the research myself!)

re:viruses in Leo's In category Reptile Discussions Written by gemuesekrieger From Dr. Gecko's website: As with humans, there are no specific treatments available for most viral infections in leopard geckos to date. When dealing with medical problems, proper personal hygiene, quara

re:A death, an acquisition, a laying, and another death. In category Reptile Discussions Written by CountFunkUla Eventful day at le zoo de Dan: (1) Woke up this morning to find Gary, one of my African Dwarf frogs, dead on the bottom of the tank. The poor froggies havn't been doing well for the last few days. I've been distracted, and let the ambient temp of my apt get too high (80F). I personally like that temp, and hadn't noticed until I checked the thermostat. Felt like an asshole, and resolved to cl
re:Snake death In category Reptile Discussions Written by montrose420 A friend is a teacher in Florida and she had a small saltmarsh water snake (Nerodia) and it just up and died. She said it had been eating fine, hasn't been handled too much and it lived in a tank with a filter and clean water with plenty of "minnows". I gave it a look-over and there was no obvious sign of trauma or pathology, it wasn't too thin or anything - though it did apparently grab a piece
re:OtherNG's - Matt & Trai Rathsack CONTINUED In category Reptile Discussions Written by montrose420 I'd like to continue on w/ this topic on how great this forum is. The Viper portion of the name was appropriate, and if anyone is wondering about the "SPIT", it's from the amaz
re:Iggy Poo Questions In category Reptile Discussions Written by ComradeAdd'Em I have a rescued Iggy, about 4' in length that I've had for nearly a year and he has blossomed from a skinny, scabbed-nosed scared lizard into a great big, colorful and fairly tame pal. He eats great, but our wea
re:regurgitation In category Reptile Discussions Written by hot_lil_monkey_lover How long after a snake regurgitates is it 'safe' to feed her again? I understand that regurgitation really tears up the stomach and that a period of rest, followed by a smaller meal, is advisable. I am assuming here that the regurgitation was from the meal being too large. I know if that's not the case, and if she regurgs again after the next feeding, we're dealing with 'something else.'

re:notes for anyone with african house snakes In category Reptile Discussions Written by freddyburg I noticed that two of my house snakes always have had weird shedding problems. The shed would come off in pieces, or not well at all. So I've been trying something new, something I use for my leopard geckos and smaller pythons-I put a moist hide in with them, and all of them have had A+ sheds since doing so. I don't leave the moist hide in with them all the time, just from the day I notice their e
re:Snakes and Incense...ok? In category Reptile Discussions Written by freddyburg I recently moved in to a studio apartment (everything's in one big room, except the bathroom) and have a corn snake. Any issues with the occasional burning of incense? While it won't be "near" the snake tank, it's still all one big room, so there'd certainly be some "wafting" into his corner of the room.
re:boa update In category Reptile Discussions Written by CountFunkUla Vet wants to put him to sleep to do tests on him She seems to think its either IBD, or maybe something happened to him-like something falling on him-but he's always been in a rubbermaid, with nothing that could fall on him! re:Aspen Pellets In category Reptile Discussions Written by kirkgipson Anyone know of any problems keeping small snakes on Aspen pellets? My Sand Boa seems to love it, and I am about ready to bring my little Snow Corn out of quarantine & put him on it also. re:What's wrong with my Columbian? In category Reptile Discussions Written by Warrior Kalia Tonight I had my Columbian Boa around my neck when I went to my TV to change a disk in the DVD player. As I was in the process of changing the disk the snake started going ballistic & spit up all over my neck & leg. It was a clear, odorless fluid.
